Why these come back
A fact answered correctly moves up a box and returns in one day, then three, then seven, then twenty-one. A miss drops it to the first box. It retires only after three correct answers spaced three weeks apart. That is the whole algorithm: five Leitner boxes, simple enough for a parent to check.
