Everyday food words — the ones that come up at a table rather than in a textbook. Like the animals, these are things a child already knows; only the English is new.
Food words are also the ones a child can use immediately, at home, on the same day. That matters more for keeping a word than any amount of extra practice.
How it works
A picture, a set of words, and the word spoken aloud when it is picked. Three levels change the number of questions and the number of answers offered.
Missed words return through the daily review on a spaced schedule, so a word that did not stick is met again tomorrow rather than in a month.
What to look for
Use the words at a meal on the same day. A word used once at a table is worth several rounds of a game, and the game exists to make that first use possible.
